Chow Mein Sandwiches
Submitted by: Sharon Burstein of Hilton Head Island

Ingredients:
1 box of chow mein mix
1, 10 1/2 oz. can of chicken broth and 1 can of water
1 package of powdered chicken broth
1/2 package of Lipton Dry Onion Soup
1 bunch of fresh celery
3, large sweet onions
3/4 lb. ground sirloin
Garlic powder
Pepper
Chinese hot mustard
Hamburger buns

Cut the celery into pieces about one inch in size.
Cut the onions into good size pieces.
Boil both in the chicken broth adding one can of water.
Add the packet of powdered chicken broth and then add water to equal about three cups of liquid.
Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer until celery and onions are tender.

Saute ground sirloin, sprinkling garlic powder and pepper to taste.
When the vegetables are cooked, drain the liquid to use in the sauce. Drain the fat from the ground sirloin and dispose of the fat.

Dissolve the contents of the small envelope of seasoning (that comes in the chow mein mix box) into 1/2 cup of warm water.
Put the liquid that was drained from the vegetables into a large pot, add hte dissolved contents from the small envelope and add the 1/2 packet of Lipton Onion Soup. There sould be 3 1/2 cups of liquid. If not, add some water.

Put the onions, celery and ground sirloin into the pot with the liquid and get it steamy hot.
Take the package of noodles that is found in the chow mein mix box and place a handful on the bottom part of a burger bun. Ladle the chow mein onto the noodles to cover with the top of the bun.

Each person should put a little hot mustard onto the chow mein and mix it in. That will give the sandwich a nice kick!
